Dr. Charles Lakin specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of a wide range of urologic problems, including prostate disease, hematuria, and stones in the urinary tract. His special clinical interests include voiding dysfunction, urologic complications of HIV infection, and medical management of stone disease. In addition, Dr. Lakin is dedicated to providing comprehensive urologic care for patients who have complicated or chronic disorders such as HIV infection.
Dr. Lakin conducts patient clinics at the UCSD Medical Center in Hillcrest and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in La Jolla. He is active in teaching medical students and residents in urology in the clinical setting.
Dr. Lakin is certified by the American Board of Urology. In addition to standard diagnostic and surgical procedures in urology, he is certified to perform extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) for treatment of stones in the urinary tract.
